LATEST NEWS:

LOS ANGELES, CA. - MAY 9

The West Coast trip was a huge success. It all got off to a great start when my Kansas Jayhawks won the national title the night before we left. However, this made the day one drive a little rough, as we drove through the Rockies with severe hangovers.

Once we (my co-singer Chris Wheatley and I) made it to LA we forgot all about our headaches. The weather was perfect and I got to spend some time checking out the beaches. I attended the annual ASCAP EXPO at the Hollywood Renaissance and met a lot of great songwriters, artists, and industry all-stars. My music was reviewed by a listening panel and was received favorably.

I also got to meet with my friend, Joey Koch, who is a music supervisor and owner of StarBrite Music Supervision, a promising company that Loft Nine may be hooking up with in the near future. Joey licensed my work with Full Day Affair when she used to work at MTV.

Lastly, Chris and I played shows on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood and on Pacific Beach in San Diego. The turnout was great for both shows as we soon discovered we had a large fan and friend base already established! The promoters wanted to book us again promptly.

The successful trip has lead me to change relocation plans from N.Y. to L.A. where I just feel more at home and also have more contacts. It was simply amazing...

LOS ANGELES, CA. - FEB. 10

I'll be heading to the left coast April 9 - 19 for the annual ASCAP Songwriter EXPO. Here I will have the opportunity have my music reviewed by industry representatives and panelists. A possible show is also in the works for the weekend of the 18th.

Also, "Runaway" and "Angel" both received perfect four star ratings as reported by Loggins Promotions during a recent commercial radio test.

LAWRENCE, KS. - DEC. 27
So I have officially left St. Louis and moved Loft Nine Studios temporarily back to my hometown, Lawrence, Kansas. I decided this would be a great location to get some business done while cutting back on expenses. Plans to make the move to NY haven't changed but I would like to start shopping the new material before I get out there.

I had to come back to St. Louis just two weeks ago to finish mixing the first four songs on the EP. As we speak, Brad Sarno, over at Blue Jade Audio, is doing the mastering on them. There are two more songs that still need to be added, however, these current four will be made available for listening and download on this site as well as my myspace page within the next week or two. The EP will not be released till sometime this summer.

SAINT LOUIS - NOVEMBER 14
Just finished the first day of tracking for the new album at Sawhorse Studios. The session went amazing and we are already laying some great rhythm tracks down. I'm posting footage on my video page so check those clips out now! Click Here!

SAINT LOUIS - OCTOBER 31
Welcome to the new site! I am very excited about the launching of Loft Nine Records, not to mention the rebirth of a music career. There are a lot of things going down right now...

First, I would like to thank Michelle over at Under Grace Photography. We had our photo shoot last month and I must say, the results turned out better than I could have imagined. Pretty much every picture you see on this site, right now, came out of her camera and unique vision.

Next, I am happy to announce that I have decided to work with Jason McEntire at his Sawhorse Recording Studio for the six track EP. He is a great engineer whom I was fortunate enough to work with back on the "Approved" album. I head into the studio on November 14th. Studio musicians will include Ryan Milligan (drums) and Darrell Nienhaus (bass).

LOFT NINE RECORDS LLC

Loft Nine Records is an independent recording label founded in 2007 by producer/songwriter, Scott Smith. The company's mission is simply to produce, market, and distribute musical recordings (as if there is anything simple about that).

The label has already established itself as a music production and recording entity and plans to extend its arms further into the world of artist development as well as marketing and distribution.

Currently the label is not signing on new artists. Launching and promoting Scott Smith's new project is the primary goal of the label, however, Loft 9 Studios still offers a variety of services to the public. (Music production, equipment rental, etc.)

Loft Nine Records also has an established publishing arm in place, setup through ASCAP. Scottie Too Hottie Publishing plans on having a very active 2008 and will be submitting tracks from "Success Story" for placement in various television shows, video games, and movies. The successful publishing company already has licensed works to MTV for use in their reality television broadcasting (and yes, they were used).
